Training Centres

Buying a training centre?

We arrange the finance. You get the keys.

A training centre with accredited courses, a stable learner base, and recognised awarding body relationships is a genuinely fundable business. The combination of corporate training contracts, individual course fees, and government-funded programmes creates a diversified income stream that specialist lenders can assess with confidence — provided the application presents the accreditation framework and income mix clearly.

What lenders look at

Income stability and contract quality are the foundation of any training centre valuation. Lenders will examine the balance between corporate contracts, individual learner fees, and government-funded programmes such as apprenticeships or Skills Bootcamps. Contracted corporate income — where employers commit to a volume of training over a fixed period — is treated most favourably as a predictable, verifiable revenue base. Government-funded programmes provide stability but carry compliance obligations that lenders will want to understand.

Accreditation and awarding body relationships are central to the underwriting. A training centre holding recognised accreditations — City and Guilds, BTEC, SQA, or sector-specific bodies such as CITB, NEBOSH, or IOSH — has a demonstrable quality framework that lenders respond to positively. The transferability of those accreditations to the incoming owner is a critical question — lenders will want confirmation that accreditation status will be maintained through the ownership change.

Ofsted registration applies where the training centre delivers government-funded education or training — including apprenticeships. The most recent Ofsted inspection grade and any specific findings will be reviewed carefully. A Good or Outstanding grade strengthens the application. Any areas for development need direct explanation in the application narrative.

Tutor capacity and retention are assessed alongside learner numbers. A training centre whose delivery capacity depends on a small number of specialist tutors carries a risk that lenders price carefully — the departure of key trainers affects both capacity and accreditation compliance. A broader tutor base with documented qualifications and employment contracts provides the continuity lenders look for.

How we help

We are acquisition finance and loans brokers, not lenders. We package your application, present it to the funders with genuine education sector appetite, and manage the process from first conversation through to completion.

We also arrange government-backed facilities for training centre acquisitions — helping buyers access up to £2 million toward their purchase where the criteria are met.

Every training centre acquisition is different. Tell us about the business. We will take it from there.

05 — The funding

How much can you borrow?

Every purchase is different. The amount you can borrow will depend on the training centres, its trading performance, the purchase price, your circumstances and the transaction structure.

For this type of purchase, lenders will focus particularly on learner enrolment, contracts, accreditation and tutor capacity. We prepare those details clearly and approach funders that understand the sector.

Common questions

Buying a training centre — your questions answered

How much deposit do I need to buy a training centre?+

Most training centre acquisitions are funded with a deposit of around 20% to 30% of the purchase price, though this varies with the strength of the trading figures, whether the deal includes freehold property, and your own experience. Where there is property security or a particularly strong trading history, lenders can sometimes go further.

Can I borrow against goodwill when buying a training centre?+

Yes. Specialist acquisition lenders will lend against goodwill where the trading history supports it, which is essential for leasehold deals with no bricks-and-mortar security. The application has to be presented so the underwriter can see the sustainable, transferable earnings behind that goodwill.

How long does it take to arrange finance to buy a training centre?+

Indicative terms are usually available within 48 hours of your enquiry. A full offer typically follows within two to four weeks, with completion driven mainly by valuation and the pace of the legal work on both sides.

Is iLendi Capital a lender or broker?+

iLendi Capital is an acquisition finance and loans broker, not a direct lender. We work with buyers across the UK to prepare their funding applications, introduce them to the lenders most likely to approve them, and manage the deal through to completion. We also specialise in government-backed facilities, helping you secure up to £2m toward your purchase.
